The use of herbal and synthetic compounds can be effective in improving the areas and repair of tissues that have been affected during the processes like what happens in ulcerative colitis as a common inflammatory disorder. According to the beneficial effects of aloe vera, in this study, we aimed to assess the therapeutic effects of oral aloe vera gel on acetic acid-induced colitis in rats by histopathological and molecular analysis of Bax, and BCL-2 genes expression in colon tissue samples.
Histologically, aloe vera gel treatment could reduce and heal colon tissue damages in induced colitis. Also, this gel reduced apoptosis in rats colon with acetic acid-induced colitis, which showed in significantly decreased in Bax mRNA expression and significantly increased BCL-2 mRNA expression compared with the colitis group with no treatment.
Aloe vera gel has a significant effect on the treatment of UC in rat because of the beneficial effect that was found from aloe vera such as decreasing the severity of colitis as evidenced by histopathological findings, and with respect to apoptosis and gene expression that were related to wound healing process, and suppression of the elevation of Bax mRNA with the upregulation of Bcl-2, which can be considered effective in the treatment of UC.
Porridge With Chia And Sea Buckthorn Oil Recipe
If you think about it, breakfast is the easiest meal to prepare yourself. You are typically home in the morning or can make something to take with you. I think it is so beneficial to start your day with a grounding, home-cooked meal. Not to say I dont ever go out to brunch, but I think I make a pretty mean bowl of porridge in my very own kitchen. The last thing I want is a hard crash midway through my day, something I have experienced with eating breakfast out. Continue reading

Preparation Of Calcium Phosphate
Ahmadzadeh-Asl et al investigated calcium phosphate cements prepared by using hyaluronic acid solutions with two different molecular weights. The results revealed that the long setting time and the low compressive strength of the CPC could be improved drastically by using HA in the cement composition, in molecular weight dependent manner, suggesting that calcium phosphate nanocomposite cement obtained by HA solution can be successively used as injectable bone filler material.
In a biomimetic approach, to enhance cartilage synthesis and regeneration, Wang et al prepared amorphous inorganic polyphosphate micro-particles with Mg2+ as a counter-ion. Similar particles were obtained addition of Mg2+ ions to a solution containing HA, as a major component of the synovial fluid and soluble Na+-polyP and Ca2+ polyP. The authors proposed a strategy for treatment of joint dysfunction caused by osteoarthritis based on the application of amorphous Mg2+-polyP micro-particles that prevent calcium crystal formation in the synovial fluid using scavenging Ca2+ polyP ions and enhance chondrocyte function after binding of the Ca2+-polyP to HA at the cartridge surface. In complex polyP, HA might be protected against enzymatic degradation by hyaluronidase.
Walker et al published several preparations of HA being available for many United State, FDA Labelled indication, for cosmetics and intraarticular uses.

Power Calculations And Statistical Analysis
On the assumption of a 10% clinical remission rate with placebo and a 50% remission rate with aloe vera gel, and with the use of a 2:1 aloe vera:placebo randomization scheme, 45 patients were required to detect this difference at the 5% level of significance with 80% power. All patients who met the inclusion criteria and were effectively followed up were included in the analyses.
Fishers exact test was used to compare treatment and placebo groups with respect to gender. The chi-squared test was used to compare treatment and placebo groups in relation to baseline disease extent and therapy. The MannWhitney U-test was used to compare the groups at baseline in relation to age, SCCAI, IBDQ, sigmoidoscopic score, histological grade and blood results. Correlations at baseline between SCCAI, IBDQ and sigmoidoscopic score were assessed by Spearmans rank correlation test.
Statistical calculations were made using computer software programs . Numerical results are expressed as the median and interquartile range. Because all the comparisons to be made were planned prospectively, no correction for multiple comparison was applied. All tests were two-tailed and significance was reported at the 5% level.

The Symptoms Of Ulcerative Colitis
The symptoms of ulcerative colitis vary from person to person, but some of the more general ones include issues such as anemia, fast heart rate, reduced appetite, fever, as well as a bloody stool. Digestive problems are something that people suffering from this disease typically experience on a daily basis, which can affect the quality of their lifestyle considerably.
In case ulcerative colitis remains untreated, the symptoms can get even more severe, with pain, frequent vomiting, and diarrhea. Due to the constant need to go to the bathroom, people may even experience dehydration and larger blood loss through stool, which in extreme cases may end up fatal. This is precisely why its paramount to seek medical help as soon as you notice something wrong with your bowels and digestive system.
Probiotics Are Your Guts Best Bud
Supplements with anti-inflammatory properties can help to calm your colon down, while other supplements focus on easing UC discomfort by introducing good bacteria into your belly, potentially overriding bad bacteria that trigger flares. First Talk With Your Doctor
Natural therapies may sound harmless, but get a pro opinion before you try anything, advises Dr. Dupont. The most important thing is to go over anything youre thinking of taking with your doctor, he says. Many of them do have benefits and are safe, but some may have interactions with medications. Now is not the time to drop-kick your prescription, either. Complementary medicine should be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, conventional medicine, he adds. If youâre curious about trying supplements, here are few worth looking into.

How Much Aloe Vera Should I Take
Always speak with a healthcare provider before taking a supplement to ensure that the supplement and dosage are appropriate for your individual needs.
There are no standard doses of aloe vera in any form. The effects and risk of side effects can vary based on the type of aloe vera supplement, your age, weight, and health status.
Aloe vera gel-based products meant for the skin may be in concentrations as little as 0.5% to over 99%. There is no data to suggest that lower concentrations are less effective than higher concentrations. It may be best to begin with a lower concentration and monitor for improvement of symptoms as well as adverse effects. Adjustments can be made from there as needed in consultation with your healthcare provider. Stop using a supplement immediately if you notice any adverse effects.
Oral forms of aloe may come in capsules, powders, and juices. Supplement doses available vary significantly, and this is partly related to the type of aloe vera supplement as well. Please remember that aloe vera latex and non-decolorized whole leaf extract are associated with more adverse effects than aloe vera gel. You should discuss the use of all nutritional supplements with your healthcareprovider, especially when using those with a higher risk of adverse reactions.
Warnings About Aloe Vera Consumption
Those with ulcerative colitis should be cautious about consuming aloe vera juice, commonly available in stores. Aloe vera has a laxative effect and may be problematic for those already experiencing diarrhea.
Aloe vera products are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration . Given this, it can be hard to tell if products claiming to contain aloe vera actually do contain aloe vera, or instead contain aloe latex, which has strong laxative properties.
- Curcumin: Curcumin is an active ingredient found in the spice turmeric. It is believed to contain anti-inflammatory properties and, because of this, may be beneficial for those living with ulcerative colitis. A 2020 review examined the results of seven studies involving 380 patients with ulcerative colitis. They found that when curcumin therapy was combined with mesalamine , a medication prescribed in the treatment of ulcerative colitis, that patients were three times more likely to experience a clinical response. The same study found that those on curcumin therapy also experienced minimal side effects.

Avoid Foods That May Exacerbate Uc Symptoms
Because a healthy diet is a cornerstone for overall health, its no surprise that it tops Sniders list of natural remedies for ulcerative colitis. Diet is a foundational treatment for patients with ulcerative colitis, he says, adding that there’s often a dietary component to the disease.
According to a review published in October 2014 in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, people who reported a diet high in fats were more likely to have a relapse of UC. Other studies highlighted in the paper suggested avoiding greasy foods, dairy products, caffeine, and raw fruits and vegetables if you have ulcerative colitis. But the review notes that theres no one-size-fits-all diet for UC, so youll have to figure out what works best for you through trial and error.
It helps to keep a food diary to discover which foods are best for you. Snider says it can’t hurt to limit certain foods, and then if your symptoms improve according to your symptom diary, to continue doing so. He also notes that it’s worthwhile to avoid sugar because its effect on the pancreas hinders the output of anti-inflammatory enzymes.
How To Take Aloe Vera Orally

If need be, you can increase the dosage gradually to 1 or even ¾ tsp. Of course, make sure to consult with your doctor on the right dosage for your particular case.

What Are The Benefits Of Aloe Vera Juice
The aloe vera plant has many active plant compounds that might have health benefits.
Aloe vera juice is a low-calorie and low-sugar drink. The juice is mostly water, but it also contains some natural sugars and vitamins and minerals like vitamin C and sodium. Many people add aloe vera juice to smoothies, which can be a better option than other fruit juices. Aloe latex can cause digestive side effects, so regularly drinking aloe juice with latex might not be a good idea.
The anthraquinone compounds in latex have a laxative effect on the body. These compounds block sodium and potassium activities in your gut, making your intestines absorb less water. With a higher water concentration, your stool becomes soft, making it easy to have a bowel movement.
Might help lower blood sugar
Animal studies suggest that aloe vera juice might help lower blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. Some older human studies also show that aloe vera juice lowers fasting blood sugar levels and cholesterol and fat in the blood.
Might help acid reflux
A small study tested aloe vera juice for symptoms of acid reflux, including heartburn, belching, food regurgitation, nausea, vomiting, and trouble swallowing. The study compared aloe juice to medications and found that aloe vera juice relieved the frequency of symptoms.
And In The Other Corner: Prebiotics
If probiotics are getting all the attention right now, prebiotics are waiting in the wing for their 15 minutes of fame. Think of prebiotics as the behind-the-scenes supporters. They work by providing the building blocks for probiotics to grow and do their thing. As for where youll find them, start with fresh fruits and vegetables, including onions, garlic, bananas, and artichokes.

Active Ingredients And Mechanisms Of Action
A large number of biological activities have been ascribed to Aloe vera to explain its purported health benefits, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, lipid and glucose lowering, antiproliferative, immunostimulatory, and antioxidant functions. A number of potentially active ingredients in the latex and gel of Aloe vera have been identified however, much has yet to be determined about their mechanisms of action. Further studies are also required to determine the active properties of numerous other Aloe vera constituents and to explore the competitive or synergistic actions of particular combinations of ingredients.

What Are The Side Effects Of Aloe Vera
Side effects of aloe vera are uncommon. The risk of side effects may vary based on the form of aloe vera and whether it is applied to the skin or taken orally.
For example, aloe vera gel appears to be associated with fewer adverse reactions than aloe vera whole leaf extract and aloe latex. The gel has been associated with skin discomfort, pain, and dermatitis in some individuals. Overall, adverse reactions with aloe vera gel appear uncommon and non-severe.
